League Champions - 1997, 1998, 2001

7-a-side - 1983( Llanbedr club)

History

The current Llangynhafal club is a merger of two former clubs namely Llangynhafal and Llanbedr in 1992. Both clubs, like Llanfair, were members of the Ruthin Summer League disbanded in 1956. Llangynhafal joined our League in 1966 dropped out in 1978; and rejoined in 1987. Llanbedr joined in 1975 and continued in existence until 1992. During these periods both clubs had great difficulty in getting enough players and were assisted by the League in a variety of ways to attempt to keep both clubs in the League.

Like other teams they have had great difficulty in finding a pitch in their local community. Currently  home matches are  played on the Rhewl Playing Field.

Llangynhafal had a very successful period from 1997 to 2001 when they won their 3 championships. Since then they have had a tremendous number of young players playing through their ranks, unfortunately for the club many have gone to University and have been lost to the Summer League. Currently even though they finished bottom they have tremendous potential and if they had a couple of good goal-scorers then they would have finished much higher. Strangely, as yet, they have not won the North Wales Times Shield.

The Llangynhafal catchment is based on the original Llangynhafal and Llanbedr parishes and contains the villages of Gellifor, Hendrerwydd, Llanbedr and Llangynhafal.
